Convention date, Nov. 12, 1929. [Class 103 (i).] Relates to means for supplying current at an adjustable voltage to eddy current rail brakes, and comprises a polyphase arc rectifier installation in which the voltage on the D.C. side is made adjustable by providing the rectifier with two sets of anodes 1, 2, 3 and 4, 5, 6 adapted to be connected through switches 8 .. 12 to different tappings on the secondary winding 14 of the supply transformer. Increases in voltage are made by switching the inoperative anode set on to a tapping of higher potential than that of the operative anode set thus diverting current from the last-mentioned to the first-mentioned set. Decreases are made by switching off the operative set thus bringing into operation the other set connected to a tapping of lower potential. The switching arrangements may be replaced by grid control of the anodes.
