407,724. Metal vapour rectifiers. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.- GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. Sept. 17, 1932, No. 25934. Convention date, Sept. 19, 1931. [Class 39 (i).] To enable regulation of metal vapour rectifiers to be effected over a wide range by delaying to an adjustable extent the moment of ignition by grid control, auxiliary exciter anodes 10 .... 15 are provided adjacent the main anodes 4 .... 9 and provision is made for ensuring that the burning period of the auxiliary exciter anodes extends over the whole period in which ignition may be arranged to occur. As shown, the exciter anodes 10 .... 15 associated with the main anodes 4 .... 9 are energized by groups of secondary windings on an auxiliary transformer 22, and for prolonging the burning period choke coils 23, 24, 25 and resistances 16 ... 21 are inserted in the exciter anode circuits, a further choke 26 being inserted in the neutral conductor. Alternatively, the exciter anodes may be energized by direct current. The auxiliary excitation provisions are additional to the normal excitation provisions indicated at 40, Fig. 2.
