Abstract

356,807. Automatic regulation. LUCAS, Ltd., J., Gt. King Street, Birming- ham, and GLASER, W. H., 1, Birch Grove, Acton, London. June 13, 1930, No. 18140. [Class 38 (iv).] In an automatically-regulated dynamo, particularly for vehicle lighting, employing a vibratory regulator c, a rectifier a is connected in parallel with the field winding b controlled by the regulator, for the purpose of providing a path for current from the winding when the regulator contacts are separated. The object of the invention is to reduce sparking at the regulator contacts and to enable larger currents to be controlled. A number of rectifiers may be connected in series and intermediate connections may be provided between the rectifiers and parts of the winding. The spark-suppressing action may be improved by the provision of a resistance d across .the regulator contacts. The rectifier is preferably of the copper-oxide type.
