399,058. Inductances. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London.-(Allgemeine Elektricitõts-Ges.; 2, Friedrich Karl-Ufer, Berlin.) Jan. 17, 1933, No. 1565. [Class 37.] A choking-coil for limiting short-circuit currents comprises a core 1 with one or more air gaps, which may be adjustable, and two similar windings 2, 3 connected in series or parallel, the windings being so connected that the normal flux due to one winding opposes that due to the other winding. On normal currents, the windings substantially neutralize each other, so that the voltage drop is small, but as the current increases the leakage increases, and on heavy overloads the windings behave practically as separate choking coils. Specification 9838/08, [Class 37, Electricity, Measuring &c.], is referrred to.
