Abstract

314,395. Westinghouse Lamp Co., (Assignees of Lederer, E. A.). June 26, 1928, [Convention date]. Vacuum tubes. - A thermionic cathode consists of a core 10 on which a wire 13 is wound with the turns spaced apart to form grooves in which electron emitting material 12 is disposed. The core and wire may be of platinum, nickel, tungsten, or molybdenum. The material may consist of equal parts of barium and strontium carbonates, with or without calcium carbonate, and may be applied by passing the core through a suspension so that the carbonates are interlocked between the turns. Only a thin layer adheres to the outer surface of the wire 13 and the electrode is thus adapted to be readily secured to leads as by welding or clamping. Specification 295,293 is referred to.
