Abstract
246,832. Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Co., (Assignees of Mouromtseff, I. E.). Jan 27, 1925, [Convention date]. Vacuum tubes. - A straight and preferably tensioned filament cathode is disposed diagonally to another cathode so that the two halves of the filament will be subjected to equal and oppositely-directed electrostatic forces due to the other electrode; or two or more hairpin filaments connected in parallel are arranged with the loops crossing. As shown, hairpin filaments 1, 2 connected at one end to a spring 3 and at the other to supports 13, cross at the centre, where they are bound together by tungsten wires. The filament leads 11, 12 are mounted in a seal at the end of a re-entrant tube 8. A grid 17 is secured by a band 19 to a glass member 21 sealed to the tube. The anode 5 is sealed to a vitreous tube 6.
