Abstract

227,451. Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Co., (Assignees of Freeman, H. M.). Jan. 8, 1924, [Convention date]. Vacuum tubes.-Three electrodes are mounted on five parallel standards secured in a pinch substantially in one plane; the central and outer standards support the filament and grid, and the other two standards support the anode and are doubly bent at obtuse angles adjacent to the pinch, so that the upper ends are parallel and in a plane which is at an acute angle with that of the pinch. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3 the filament 4 is mounted on standards 3, 6. and the grid 8 is secured by a U-shaped support 9 to an outer standard 7. The anode standards 12, 13 are mounted in the pinch 1 in the same plane as the other standards 3, 6, 7, but are doubly bent at obtuse angles 15, 19, .and the parallel portions are in a plane at an angle of 45‹ with that of the pinch so as to leave room for the standards 6, 7. The leads from the standards 6, 12 are crossed in different planes as shown in Fig. 2 to enable connection to be made to the usual contact pins. The pin 18 connected to the plate is of larger size than the others so as to prevent incorrect insertion.
