Abstract

316,678. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Thompson, B. J.). Aug. 2, 1928, [Convention date]. Vacuum. tubes.- Microphonic and other noises in valves &c. due to relative motion of the electrodes, particulaily of a filamentary cathode, are reduced by the provision at that end of the electrode structure remote from the stem of an insulating member having openended slots which frictionally engage the electrodes or their wire supports at opposite sides thereof. A screened grid valve, Fig. 1, described in Specification 292,563, is provided with a slotted semi-circular thin mica disc 12, Fig. 2, having slots for a control grid leak 6 and two wires which support an inner screen grid 8. A flexibly supported filament 2 contacts lightly with the sides of a slot 12a which is extended as shown beyond the filament to prevent lateral strain thereon. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states also that the registering member may be placed at the lower end or at other portions of the structure and that when there are no horizontal supports it. may consist of a drilled circular disc. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
