Abstract
322,827. Robinson, E. Y., and Associated Electrical Industries, Ltd. Sept. 22, 1928. Vacuum tubes.- One or more electrodes, e.g. the cathode and grid, are supported from the pinch 35, and the anode, 34 is laterally supported and registered with respect to these electrodes by means of insulating cross pieces 41, 42 at both ends of the electrodes and by one or more standards 39 secured at 40 to the re-entrant tube and attached to the anode above that insulating cross piece 42 which is adjacent the pinch. The standards 39 shown are of hairpin shape, and function as described in Specification 292,664. The cross pieces 41, 42 are secured to the anode-supporting wires 38 by metal loops 15 welded to the wires. The bight of the cathode heating-filament is supported by a spring 37 secured to a glass bead carried by wires attached to grid-supporting wires. The cathode consists of a nickel tube coated with a mixture of barium and strontium oxides, and the tungsten hair-pin filament is coated with porcelain, as described in Specification 278,787. The grids described, 'proceeding outwards from the cathode, consist of a control grid, a high-potential grid, and a. third grid electrically connected to the cathode.
