Vacuum tubes. - An electrode structure consists of a flattened helical grid 5 wound on twovertical wires 6 mounted in a pinch, a flattened anode 7 surrounding the grid and carried by two other vertical wires 8 mounted in the pinch. an inverted V-shaped filament 1 mounted on leading-in wires 2 in the pinch and supporbed at the top by a wire 3 mounted in the pinch and parallel to but outside the anode, this wire being connected through insulating material such as a glass bead 9 by stays 10 with the wires 8, and optionally by stays 11 with the wires 6. The leading-in wires and the loop supporting the filament enter the grid so that the filament is wholly enclosed by the grid.
