404,169. Thermionic cathodes. INTERNATIONAL GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Inc., 120, Broadway, New York, U.S.A.- (Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitats-Ges. ; 2, Friedrich Karl-Ufer, Berlin.) March 20, 1933, No. 8390. Convention date, March 19, 1932. [Class 39 (i).] The carrier portion of a Wehnelt cathode is grooved or channelled by incising it. In one form a carrier 1 coated with barium oxide is scored by a fine needle either before or after the coating is applied. The carrier is mounted on supports 4, 5 by current-carrying wires 2, 2<1>, 3, 3<1>. The scorings may be straight, circular or in grid formation with a spacing of 0.1 to 0.2 mm.
