Abstract
309,578. Naamlooze Vennootschap Philips'. Gloeilampenfabrieken. April 13, 1928, [Convention date]. Vacuum tubes.-Cathodes are provided, in addition to the known active material, such as barium or a barium compound, with a beryllium compound, preferably beryllium oxide, with which may be mixed a compound of zirconium, preferably zirconium oxide. In an example, a nickel-wire core or a tungsten core wound with nickel wire is coated with a suspension of barium carbonate, beryllium carbonate, zirconium oxide, in the molecular proportions 10:2:8, and, if desired, an agglutinant, for example, gum arabic, the whole being heated, preferably to 1000C in vacuo.
