Abstract

R÷ntgen-ray tubes.-In a tube having an incandescent cathode and a focusing device the part of the cathode which emits electrons is arranged at a distance of at least 1.5 mm. from the geometrical axis of the focusing device. The cathode may consist of a flat spiral 1 one or more turns of which are rendered inactive by means of a lead 8 connected as shown between an intermediate turn and a molybdenum rod 4 in which the bent inner end 3 of the spiral is secured, and from which it may be insulated, or the spiral may be wound with the innermost turn at the desired distance from the axis. The outer end of the spiral is connected with the focusing device 2, and an additional support in the form of a hook 9 may be connected with the spiral at a distance of at least 10‹ from the end.
