Abstract
289,975. Wade. H., (Naamlooze Vennootschap Philips Gloeilampenfabrieken). Feb. 9, 1927. Vacuum tubes.-In order to prevent the deposition of a getter, such as calcium or other electropositive metal, on the electrodes, a screen 14 is interposed between the electrodes and a member, such as a tungsten helix 11, containing or coated with the metal which is evolved when the helix is heated, the helix not acting as a cathode. One end of the helix is connected with one of the supports 5 for the anode, not shown, and the other end with a separate leading in wire. In a modification, calcium &c. is heated by a filament wound around it.
