357,113. Thermionic cathodes. INTERNATIONAL GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Inc., 120, Broadway, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Allgemeine Elektricitats-Ges. ; 2, Friedrich Karl-Ufer, Berlin.) March 14, 1930, No. 8276. Convention date, March 14, 1929. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 39 (i).] An oxide-coated cathode is formed by heating barium nitrate &c. applied in solution to a core of tungsten or molybdenum wire. An organic solvent such as alcohol may be used, and a binder such as collodion, acetylcellulose or a resinous substance mav be mixed therewith. If the coating is reduced to the oxide before mounting in a valve, a protective coating of copper is applied.
