Abstract
356,978. Discharge apparatus. TELEFUNKEN G E S. F U R DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE, 12, Hallesches Ufer, Berlin. Oct. 22, 1930, No. 31754. Convention date, Nov. 9, 1929. [Class 39 (i).] Cathodes of cathode-ray tubes for measuring, picture transmission, &c., comprise a hollow body 1 with an internal narrow bore 3 of the order of 1 mm. diameter heated by a surrounding cylindrical winding 2, the inner surface of the bore being coated w it h electron - emitting material to form the cathode proper and an annular disc 6 or cap being situated in the path of the electron stream at its exit from the body 1. The body 1 is of ceramic material such as magnesia and comprises a central hollow core 1a and an outer cylinder 1b. The cathode lead 5 is connected to a metal support 4 for the emitting material. The disc 6 may operate as the anode or control electrode. Space charge inside the cathode may be compensated for by small quantities of gas. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the application of the cathodes to other discharge tubes. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
