Abstract
477,637. Electric resistance heaters. M-O VALVE CO., Ltd., and BENJAMIN, M. Oct. 6, 1936, No. 27111. [Class 39 (iii)] The tungsten filament for heating the cathode of a receiving valve is coated with a suspension of alumina containing a small proportion, e.g. 1 per cent of calcium carbonate or other calcium compound which is converted to the oxide by heating. The diameter of the alumina particles is between 30 Á and 120 Á and the mixture is milled in nitro-cellulose in amyl acetate diluted with alcohol. The coated filament is sintered in hydrogen at 1700‹ C. Tungsten heating filaments for other small metal enclosures may be similarly coated.
