Abstract
232,978. Edison Swan Electric Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Radio-R÷hren-Laboratorium Dr. G. Nickel Ges.). April 28, 1924. [Convention date]. Vacuum tubes. - An incandescent cathode or auxiliary electrode is coated with a compound adapted, when hot, to disintegrate gradually and thereby produce ions which neutralize the space charge. A suitable substance is calcium hydride, which in addition to producing positive ions of calcium and hydrogen also has a high electron emission. Other substances acting as binders, or producing electrons and positive ions, may be added. If the tube becomes " hard " in use, the filament may be over-energized so as to evolve more hydrogen. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 230,226.
