Abstract

230,183. Ruben, S. Dec. 6, 1923. R÷ntgen-ray tubes. -An electrode such as a cathode is composed! partly of metallic calcium. A pointed cathode 2 consists of a conducting crystalline compound such as silica carbide, and a strip 11 of calcium is attached to the support. When ionization occurs calcium is vaporized and gas is absorbed. The anode 3 is of copper with a refractory target 3a. A resistance may be connected in series with the tube to prevent a heavy discharge due to ionization.
