Abstract
420,101. Discharge apparatus. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London, and SCOTT, W. J., 22, Windsor Street, Rugby. May 26, 1933, No. 15277. [Class 39 (i)] An electric discharge device, such as that known under the Registered Trade Mark "Thyratron" has a cylindrical or tubular grid provided with a slot of uni. form width extending partly or wholly along its length, and an anode consisting of a plate of metal or carbon mounted in a plane parallel to the plane of the slot and facing it. Improved cooling of the anode and grid is thus made possible, with consequent lessening of grid emis. sion. In the example shown, the tubular grid 1 is supported by flanges 2 engaging supports 8, 9 and the anode 4 faces the slot 3. An indirectly-heated cathode 7 is mounted longitudinally within the grid and adjacent the slot. Metallic screens 10 protect the mica spacing members 11 from the discharge. The Provisional Specification describes a grid of cylindrical form.
