[Class 8 (i)] [Also in Group XL] For the removal of residual gases from a vacuum vessel, e.g. a thermionic valve having an external anode, barium is dispersed by heating within the vessel to a temperature of 1200‹ C. a tungsten wire coated with an equimolecular mixture of barium and strontium oxides.
