Abstract
419,045. Discharge lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London.-(Assignees of Patent-Treuhand- Ges. fur Elektrische Gl³hlampen; 11, Ehrenbergstrasse, Berlin.) June 20, 1934, No. 18258. Convention date, Feb. 12. [Class 39 (i).] In a lamp of the type described in Specification 389,418 the annular anode is constituted by the end of a cylinder surrounding the container-like cathode over most of its surface and separated from it by an insulating layer. In one form, a metal container 2 forms the cathode and is covered by a vitreous tube 11 sealed to the envelope 1. The annular end 6 of a metal cylinder 9 surrounding the tube 11 constitutes the anode. The cathode 2 contains the metal, such as sodium, caesium, cadmium or mercury which is to be vaporized and its length is many times the distance between its open end and the anode 6. The lamp may have a rare gas filling. Specification 386,638 also is referred to.
