Abstract

[Class 39 (i)] In a gas or vapour filled rectifier having an incandescent cathode and two anodes which are connected together either directly or through a resistance and are located at different distances from the cathode, the anode nearer the cathode being of sieve- or grid-like form, negative slopes in the characteristic are removed or avoided by arranging that the distance between the anodes is substantially greater than, e.g. at least twice, that between the cathode and the inner anode. In addition, or alternatively, the anodes are so constructed and arranged that the hypothetical amplification factor, i.e. the amplification factor of the rectifier when used as a triode, the inner anode forming the control grid, is at least 20.
