Abstract

417,027. Thermionic valves. TELEFUNKEN GES. FUR DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE, 12, Hallesches Ufer, Berlin. Feb. 22, 1934, No. 5906. Convention date, Feb. 22, 1933. [Class 39 (i).] In a valve with multi-electrode systems comprising a main and auxiliary systems-the latter being usable for gain control-a single indirectly heated cathode K is provided with two emitting surfaces O, k which are used with main and auxiliary anodes A, H arranged so that the two electron streams are mutually perpendicular. The auxiliary anode may be a plate or rod and it may be surrounded by a screen. As shown in Fig. 4 the main electrodes A, K and grid G are spaced by an insulator J which carries a screen 5 on which the auxiliary emission surface k is mounted. With cathodes of prismatic form the four surfaces may be used for emission ; the grid G, Fig. 6, is supported by wires S and the auxiliary anodes are within the grid. To obtain uniform heating of the cathode, the heating filament D, Fig. 5, may have closer spirals at the end near the auxiliary emission surface.
