Abstract

April 25, 1932, No. 11883. Convention date, May 13, 1931. [Class 39 (i).] In luminous electric discharge tubes of the type provided with thermionic electrodes either discharge heated or heated by means of an auxiliary heater, and containing in addition to a gas filling, a metal vapour or vapours, the total pressure of the metal vapour or vapours is maintained at least 5 per cent lower than the sum of their saturation pressures corresponding to the minimum temperature of the tube by limiting the amount of the metal or metals introduced into the tube, the minimum temperature of the tube being taken as the temperature of the coolest part of the tube when it is in a state of steady operation.
