Variable-speed gearing.-The invention of the parent Specification comprises two-speed clutch toothed gearing in a casing such as 11, Fig 1, combined with the crank-casing of the engine upon a motor-cycle, the change of speed being effected by sliding a hollow clutch sleeve such as 23 upon the driven shaft 8 of the gearing. There were pinions such as 2, 4 fast on the crank shaft 1 driving wheels such as 5, 7 loose side by side on the shaft 8, which is the countershaft of the vehicle. According to this invention, a third speed is obtained by an additional similar gear pair 3, 6, and there are three nested clutch members 18, 20, 21, instead of two, engageable alternatively by the hollow member 23 splined on the shaft 8.
