Abstract

306,307. Fearn, J. March 27, 1928. Variable-speed gearing comprises an epicyclic train i, f, g connected through an epicyclic pair g, p to gyroscopic planetary fly-wheels m which govern the speed ratio to suit the load. A driving element c is fast to a disc d which carries the planets f of the first train. A driven element t is passed on a shaft a through which and through the pair p, q the sun gear i is geared to the fly-wheels m. The carrier spider v of the fly-wheels is secured so as to turn with the internal gar g. The resistance to end-over-end movement of the revolving fly-wheels makes the automatic variation.
