Variable-speed or reversing gearing.-An epicyclic gear yielding two reduced forward speeds or two reduced speeds in opposite directions comprises a driving shaft m with fast upon it a pinion l. The pinion l meshes with planet gears l' carried by the driven shaft o. Loose on shaft m are central pinions j, k meshing respectively with gears j', k<1> turning on studs fast in a fixed casing. A flcating ring p meshes constantly with the gears l<1>, k<1>, j<1>. By clutching the pinions j, k alternatively to the shaft m, the reduced speeds in the same or in opposite directions are imparted to the shaft o. Specification 315,476 is referred to.
