Abstract

787,524. Change-speed gearing. GARDEN, W. B. June 6, 1956 [June 7, 1955], No. 16339/55. Class 80 (2). Epicyclic change-speed gearing comprises sun gears 3, 6 secured on driving and driven shafts 2, 5, with interengaging planet pinions mounted in a carrier 7 to which is secured a gear 12 meshing with a gear 11 secured to a countershaft 10. The latter is movable axially, under the control of a gear lever, to engage a key 14 fixed thereon with internally-projecting teeth on any one of a series of gears 13 loose thereon and in constant mesh with a corresponding series of gears 4 fixed on the driving shaft 2. Forward, neutral and reverse drive may be obtained.
