In a change speed gear, two independent clutches i, j on concentric shafts c, f drive two layshafts a, b respectively to provide two independent power paths through toothed gears and toothed clutches t, u to an output shaft s. The arrangement shown provides three indirect ratios, a direct drive and by engagement of a gear v on shaft b with a gear e on shaft a, reverse.
