Abstract

478,705. Variable - speed gearing. COLE, J. H., and COLE, E. J. July 21, 1936, No. 20137. [Class 80 (ii)] The carrier 3 is the driving member and the bevel planets 4 engage bevel gears 6, 7 on a hollow shaft 2 and a shaft 1 respectively. The shaft 2 carries an annulus 11 and the shaft 1 a sun-wheel 10 of a second epicyclic gear, the carrier 8 of the planets 9 of-which-forms the driven member. The gear is stated to act by virtue of internal friction. Stepped planets may be employed in the second train.
