Variable-speed epicyclic gearing. - A shaft A<1> rotating at constant speed drives a disc A<2> on which are mounted planetary pinions a<1> gearing with a pinion B<1> rigid with a driven shaft Band with an internally toothed drum C driven by a sprocket wheel d at a variable speed by a second sprocket d<2> on a countershaft D<1> variably driven by a belt and expanding pulleys E<1>, E<2>. The end of the driven shaft B rotates in a ball bearing a mounted in a central recess in the disc A<2>. In the construction shown in Fig. 2, the sprocket wheel drive is imparted to a control drum C carrying pinions a<4> gearing with a sun pinion B' on the driving-shaft, and with an internally toothed drum B<2> keyed to the driven shaft B. The end of the driving-shaft rotates in a ball bearing c' housed in the drum B<2>. The countershaft may be used as the constant-speed shaft, in which case the shaft A<1> can be driven at varving speeds.
