Abstract
The input shaft (1) carries a pulley (2) which drives a second pulley (3) through a V-belt. The pulleys (2), (3) have coned inner surfaces which have relative axial movement so that the speed ratio of the drive can be changed. The pulley (3) carries the gear wheel (4) which drives the idler gear (5) and the gear (6) mounted on a ball bearing on the shaft (1). The gear (6) carries planet wheels (7), (8) which mesh with the sun wheel (9) which is rigidly attached to the input shaft (1). The gear (6) also meshes with the internally toothed gear (10) mounted on the output shaft (11). The output speed can be varied from the same value as the input speed down to zero.
