Variable-speed epicyclic gearing.-Relates to twospeed gearing suitable for motor-cycles, of the type in which the driving-shaft carries a sun gear and the pulley to be driven carries planetary elements meshing therewith and with an internally-toothed ring which can be held by a brake. The engine shaft b carries a sun gear g meshing with planetpinions h carried by a plate k. The plate k is connected by a sleeve m to the pulley n. A secon d plate q is secured to the plate k by projections r, p extending between the pinions h. A nut c, screwing on the end of the shaft b, supports the plate q and carries an extended shaft d. An internally - toothed ring u, meshing with the pinions h, runs on ball bearings 2, 3 on the plates q, k. A solid drive is effected when a clutch 5 sliding on the shaft d is engaged with a clutch t formed on the plate q. A reduced speed results when the clutch is disengaged and the ring u is held by a brake w.
