Toothed gearing.-In epicyclic toothed reducing or multiplying gearing, the planet carrier 4 is secured to the shaft 2, which is preferably the driven member, the planet-pinions 5 gearing with a sun 11 and annulus 9 driven in opposite directions from the driving-shaft 3 by gearing 13, 14, 10 and 12, 8, respectively. The gearing is carried in an oil-tight casing 1, and the gears 14, 10 are readily replaceable to change the speed and direction of drive. Additional gearing 12, 13, 14, such as that shown, may be used to interconnect the wheels 10, 8, and the dimensions of the wheels may vary, provided that they transmit the same ratios. Instead of driving the shaft 3, the motor may be geared directly or through an idle wheel to thewheel 10 or the wheel 8.
