Abstract

18,761. Denison, G. H., and Korte, C. Aug. 16. Variable-speed gearing comprises a spring- pressed driving-disk b and two rollers c, d driven therefrom which are connected through an epicyclic train. The roller d is secured to a sleeve p<1> which turns loosely upon a fixed axle n and carries a sun gear t. The roller c is slidable to a limited extent to vary the speed on a feather or a second loose sleeve p, which carries a sun gear s. The gears s, t are connected by pairs of intermeshing planetary gears s<1>, t<1> carried by a casing u, which also carries a toothed wheel u<1> constituting the driven element. When the roller c is in its outermost position, the rollers c, d are turning at their fastest and the greatest leverage is exerted on the casing u, which is turning at its slowest. The rollers c, d are never at rest while the disk b is moving. The arrangement is specially applicable for driving motorvehicles and machine tools.
