Abstract

111,390. Reede, A. A. W. van. Jan. 29, 1917. Toothed gearing.-In toothed gearing for driving ships, electric generators, &c. from turbines &c., the driving pinion or pinions engage on one side a toothed wheel turning with the driven shaft and on the other side a second toothed wheel geared through idle gearing with the first. Driving-pinions 4, 5, Fig. 1, gear with a toothed ring 6, secured in a drum 7 on the driven shaft, and with a ring 10 on a loose wheel 9 gearing with the ring 6 through idle pinions 24. In the form shown in Fig. 3, one driving-pinion 27 drives directly on one side a. ring 28 secured to the driven shaft and on the other side drives a loose ring 29 geared to the ring 28 by an idle pinion 30. A second driving-pinion 26 rotating in the reverse direction drives rings 33, 32 driving the driven shaft, one directly and the other through an idle pinion 31.
