Abstract
22,839. Quick, A. A. Nov. 20. Epicyclic gearing.-Relates to epicyclic gearing of the kind described in Specification 18,957/11 having an oscillating or nutating planetary wheel such as 8, supported on an inclined cam 4 upon a driving-shaft 1. The nutating wheel has one or more convex rings of teeth such as 12 and one or more concave rings such as 11, the teeth of all the rings facing in the same direction. In the reducing-gear shown in Fig. 1, the rings 12, 11 are in line one behind the other, the former meshing with a fixed ring 14, and the latter with a ring 13 on a shaft 2, which is differentially driven. By this arrangement, cross stresses are eliminated. A spherical bearing upon the wheel 8 may be provided to take any unbalanced cross stress. The longitudinal stresses of the gear teeth upon t' e wheel 8 are taken by a spherical bearing 15.
