Abstract
1275890 Toothed gearing SCHWEIZERISCHE LOKOMTIV UND MASCHINENFABRIK 19 April 1971 [2 Feb 1970] 20775/71 Heading F2Q In an epicyclic gear comprising a plurality of planets 8 which are mounted on a planet carrier 4 and mesh with a common sun-wheel 11 and annulus 10, the planets 8 are mounted on spindles 5, secured to the planet carrier 4, by self-aligning bearings 7 and the planet carrier 4 and/or the spindles 5 are of flexible construction so that the individual planets can adapt themselves by their meshing to the teeth of the sunwheel 11 and the annulus 10. The planet carrier 4 may have flexible arms 20, Fig. 2, or may be circumferentially continuous with such a wall thickness as to permit flexing thereof. In a modification, a planet spindle 101, Fig. 10, has a weakened portion 104 to facilitate deformation. In a further modification, shown in Fig. 11, a spindle 111 has a weakened part 112 and a free end 113 of larger diameter to which a bush 114 is secured. The end of bush 114 remote from the end 113 of the spindle 11 carries a selfaligning bearing 115 which carries a planet 116.
