Abstract
The speed reduction gear consists of an input shaft (11) which drives the cage carrying the planet gears (8) which mesh with the sun wheel (7) and internally toothed ring (6). The input shaft (14) also drives a hydraulic torque converter (10) through gears (14, 12). The output shaft of the torque converter has a opinion (13) which also meshes with the internally toothed ring. As the torque required to drive the main output shaft (1) increases the torque converter drives the toothed ring so as to reduce the final output speed of the shaft whilst maintaining a constant input speed and torque on the shaft.
