Feeding openers, &c.-In a scutcher or lap machine a drawroll 14, which rotates more quickly than the feed rollers, and a co-operating bar 19, are provided between the usual feed rollers and beater to loosen or open the material for presentation to the beater. The bar 19 is provided with an extension 22 projecting towards the feed rollers and with an upward]y directed nose 23 surrounding part of the roller 14. The bar is secured in position by flat end pieces engaging open slots in the brackets supporting the rollers.
