Abstract
244,995. Ezbelent, E. L. April 18, 1925, [Convention date]. Pleating.-A pleating machine comprises upper and lower longitudinal frames carrying sets of pivoted pleating blade elements, the elements on the lower frame being adjustably secured thereto, while those on the upper frame are urged by springs into contact with those on the lower frame. The frames, in the form of angle-bars 1, 2, carry end blades 3, 3<1> and are reciprocated to feed the material to the rollers by cam mechanism; the upper frame 1 is pivoted between lugs on the lower frame. The pleating blade elements 14, 14<1> are attached to carriers 15, 16 which are pivoted on shafts 13, 17. The carriers 15 are adjustable on the shaft 13 bv means of set-screws 18; the elements 14<1> are urged into contact with the elements 14 by springs 20. The shaft 13 is rocked by means of known mechanism 12 to depress the blades 14; similarly the upper frame 1 is rocked by a roller 8 engaging a guide 9 to raise the blades 3'. The blades may be moved bodily transversely of the rollers to vary the character of the pleating by means of cam mechanism.
