398,593. Rag-tearing machines. GARNETT, Ltd., P. & C., LEATHER, C. W. I., and BREARLEY, L., Wharfe Works, Cleckheaton, Yorkshire. May 11, 1932, No. 13512. [Class 120 (i).] In a rag-tearing machine of the kind in which the rags to be operated upon are fed by a feed apron A between feed rollers B or a holding roller and gripping plate between which they are nipped whilst the projecting end of the material is subjected to a tearing action by a rapidly revolving drum C mounted in a casing D, the drum C is formed with a spirally grooved surface and a length of Garnett wire E with suitably shaped teeth is secured in the groove to form the tearing element.
