Abstract

595,634. Sliver roll forming machines. FAIRBAIRN LAWSON COMBE BARBOUR, Ltd., and BEE, J. R. Oct. 23, 1944, No. 20454. [Classes 120 (i) and 120 (iii)] After a sliver has been crimped in a crimping device, which, according to the Provisional Specification, may be as described in Specification 590,340, it is subjected to a further crimping or folding action, in which the folds correspond to the width of the sliver roll subsequently to be formed. From the crimping device D, Fig. 1, the sliver passes to a conductor or trough E which is reciprocated to lay the sliver in folds on a feed sheet F, Fig. 2. The folded sliver is then formed into a cored roll A<2> by frictional contact with rollers G, G', Fig. 1. The sliver roll may be used on a spinning or like frame as disclosed in Specification 595,635.
