Abstract
565,144. Wrapping-machines. FORGROVE MACHINERY CO., Ltd., RUSSELL, A., PARKER, M., and HARRIS, R. A. May 5, 1943, No. 7099. [Class 94 (i)] In a machine for wrapping blocks of plastic material, e.g. butter, a lifting plunger 18 receiving the blocks 14 from the die plunger 13 of an extrusion device as described in Specification 565,143, moves the blocks 14, together with the wrapper 21 which has been fed and positioned as described in Specification 559,357, [Group XVI], into the jaws 19 of a cruciform wrapping wheel 20, the lifting plunger traversing a triangular path, namely, upwardly, to feed the block into the jaws, horizontally or nearly so, leaving the block in the jaws, and then diagonally downwards to its starting position. As the wrapper and block move into the jaws, the wrapper is positioned about three sides of the block ; the depending end of the wrapper remote from the plunger is then folded against the bottom of the block in known manner, the other depending end then being folded by a stationary curved folder 23 during the rotation of the wheel 20. Side tucks are then formed in the projecting ends of the wrapper which are then folded down on to the block.
