Abstract

321,900. Mackenzie, R. April 2, 1929. Openers &c.-A machine for teasing ropes of flax, jute, &c. comprises a drum 1 fitted with staggered rows of main spikes 6 and short spikes 7, mounted on spaced plates 5, and a concave segment 10 fitted with short spikes 8 and main spikes 9 co-operating with the spikes on the drum. The ropes are fed by an apron 28 and fluted rollers 12, 13. The drum is enclosed in a casing 31. The teased material is ejected through an opening 34. The feed-rollers are driven by a crossed belt 17 from the drum shaft 2, and the apron by a belt from the shaft 14 of the roller 12. According to the Provisional Specification the spikes may be triangular in shape and may be either separate from one another or continuous,
