Abstract

178,470. Forkin, J. and Bannister, A. Oct. 11, 1920. Openers &c.-In apparatus of the type in which the cotton, cotton waste, &c. is fed by feed-rollers to a licker-in by which it is transferred through a shoot to a revolving perforated cylinder with a damper at one side to allow the collected fibres to be removed, an additional cardcovered or toothed roller is provided to straighten the fibres as they are acted on by the licker-in. The material is fed by an apron 3 and rollers 9 to the licker-in 29, which transfers it to the shoot 39 and collecting-cylinder 33. The additional roller 12 is arranged below the licker-in and is driven by gears from the feed-roller shaft. The feed-rollers are driven from the main shaft 21 by a shaft 16 and bevel-gears. The cylinder 33 is driven from the feed-roller shaft by a belt 31. The licker-in is driven from the main shaft by a belt 26.
