Abstract
190,745. Forkin, J. July 27, 1921. Openers and cleaners; feeding openers &c.-In apparatus of the type comprising a licker-in taking the cotton &c. from a feed-device and passing it along a shoot to a perforated suction roller, part of which is blanked to release the collected fibres, a second roller takes the fibres from the licker-in and passes them to the shoot, and two additional rollers act on the fibres on the licker-in to straighten them. The fibres pass between a feedplate c and roller c<1>, or two feed-rollers, and are transferred by the licker-in e, the detaching roller g, and the straightening rollers h, h<1> to the spout k and perforated roller k'. The collected fibres are released by the action of the damper k<2> and removed on to a belt n<1>, which passes them through calendar rollers n<2>, n<3> to the coiler c. The feed roller c<1> is driven from the main shaft d through shafts d<4>, d' and bevel gearing. The rollers g, e are driven through a belt e<4> and a crossed belt e<3>. The cylinder k<1> is driven from the shaft d<4> through bevel gearing and a chain m<2>. The feed roller c<1> can be stopped by opening a clutch s by means of a handle s<1>. Specification 178,470 is referred to.
