Abstract

444,043. Removing foreign bodies from carding-engine webs. ALBERO, A. P., Rue Juan de Rivera, Alcoy, Alicante, Spain. Dec. 21, 1934, No. 36615. [Class 120 (i)] The foreign bodies carried in a carding-engine web are prepared for removal bv passing the web between one or more pairs of smooth pressure rollers 3, 4, Figs. 2 and 3, which rotate under a pressure sufficient to crush or break-up the foreign bodies so that they may be removed by a subsequent carding or combing operation. The pressure between the rollers 3, 4 is adjusted through hand wheels 22, 23 which serve to vary the compression of springs 12, 13 engaging the bearings 5, 7 of the upper roller 3. The roller 4 is driven through a toothed wheel 25 and the upper roller 3 therefrom through toothed wheels 27, 28. The web is fed to the apparatus by an apron 30 and delivered therefrom by an apron 33. A clearing roller 42 is provided for the roller 3, the roller 4 being cleared by the apron 33. In addition weighted scrapers 43, 44 pivoted at 47, 48 are provided to remove any substance adhering to the rollers 3, 4. If desired screws 52 may be provided to control the setting of the scrapers 43, 44.
