Class 59 In a roller grinding mill 1 comprising rollers 12. 17, 18 and 16 disposed above one another, the bearings of the rollers 12, 17, 18 are slidable vertically in frame members 14, 14<SP>1</SP>, and are linked together by pins 28, 29, each of which is closely fitted to the lower bearing of the two bearings which it connects but has a clearance with the upper bearing and means are provided for adjusting the roller 12 with respect to the fixed roller 16. The mill also comprises a feed and grinding roller 19 the bearings of which are slidable horizontally in the frame members. The weights of the rollers 17, 18 are balanced by spring-influenced pivotally-mounted levers 46, 47 the upper horizontal arms of which bear on the pins 28, 29 respectively. The roller 12 is adjusted by means of a pair of eyebolts 33 secured to the bearings 13 of the roller, the eyebolts having threaded thereto worm-nuts 32 which are rotatable by means of handwheels 30 provided with worms 31. Similar means operable by hand wheels 45 are provided for adjusting the roller 19. The pressure between the rollers is indicated by gauges 37. To facilitate cleaning the rollers without affecting their adjustment, the mill is provided with cams 39 embraced by the eyebolts 33, the cams being carried by members 38 rotatable by a handle 40. The roller 12 is driven from an electric motor through a belt 11 and drives the other rollers at progressively slower speeds by means of a train of gears. The material is fed between the rollers-16; 19 by means of a hopper. The ground material is scraped from the roller 12 by means of a knife on the inner edge of a discharge shoot. The rollers are water-cooled.
